About the event

North Carolina is rich with clay deposits all around us, so why not use that clay in our pottery? In this three week mini workshop, Amie Hodges will go over using wild clay that's dug up from her backyard! The class will go through entire cycle of clay, from rough dirt, to fine slip. Amie will go teach how to use the clay straight out of the earth, throwing and handbuilding with it, and then finally using it as slip. This class is aimed for folks who have prior experience in clay, but new folks are welcome to particpate.

This three week workshop will provide raw wild clay to students to use and make pieces with. Pieces that are finished at the end of the session will be bisqued to cone 04. Glazing is not part of this class. You can check out Amie's work here
